Go hiking or visiting the area. Many archaeological findings in the area and since a guide is required, they point out the most interesting things to see on the tour. From the elevated lookout, you can see the bungalows on the water all over the island, some renting for as much as $2,000 per night depending on the season. A... More

You cannot hike on your own as all of the land on the land is private. We hiked with Azdine Hiking (Guide Tama'a Attea) who was very knowledgeable in explaining the local archaeological findings, history of the land and botanical details of the plants and trees found on the island.

Get out of your bungalow, escape your resort and go to Vaitape. Then find your way on the road that goes around the island and ask the locals about how you can get closer to Mount Otemanu. Nice marai (sacred temples from before the colonization) and petroglyphs are yours if you open your eyes.

This view does not get old. Everyday the weather changes and the light dances on the green of the mountain popping against the unique blue that is the lagoon of Bora Bora. Someday I might hike the mountain, but for now I'll just admire it daily until I have to go home. Even then I'll hang a picture of this... More

This view is incredible, but it is constantly changing. It would be clean and then in a few minutes it would be cloudy or even fogged in. It was our view from our overwater bungalow and it was incredible. You just keep staring at it.

If you're in Bora Bora, you can't miss it. We had an amazing view of Mt. Otemanu from our bungalow and took a lagoon tour and got various views of it. We did not try to hike it, but I would love to do so if I'm lucky enough to go back.

What can I say? I was waiting to see King Kong coming down the mountainside. It is straight out of the movies. Stunning!
