A nice, low key stop off the main drag in Wasilla, AK. Very informative movie about the history of the race, lots of mementoes from races past, etc. Visitors can hop on a cart and tour the nicely landscaped grounds pulled by the teams. Highlight of the visit: puppies! Simple irresistible.

I don't know what I thought the Iditarod Headquarters would look like, but for some reason, I thought they would be bigger. However, we were very happy with the museum and information inside. It was very interesting and we learned quite a bit. The biggest draw, of course, was taking the 1 mile jaunt around the property being pulled by... More

If you're unable to experience the iditarod, itself, this is a great place to visit. The kids can take a ride in a dog sled and, in the museum, there's a film running giving the history of the race - very interesting. Many photos are on display recording it's history. There are also T shirts, etc. for sale. I visited... More

Stop and see the memorabilia. Learn about the sport of sled dog mushing. Get yourself an Iditarod Tshirt, hat, or book. You'll be sad you missed it!

Not much going on in December. Nice gift shop and an opportunity to look at genuine racing equipment. Dogs are only there in the summer.

As visitors with very little prior knowledge of sled dog racing, the Iditarod Headquarters made for an interesting visit and it is FREE. The museum is small containing some memorabilia and shows a video about the race and what it entails for both the dogs and the mushers. We saw some young puppies, but chose not to pay $10 for... being a fan of the Iditarod race this was top of my bucket list. We got to meet the son of Joe Reddington to founder of the race who was more than happy to answer all the questions we had. On arrival the dogs had set up a din second to none and when we headed toward the summer training... More

It is quite a challenge to find this place as signs are not that abundant. With the GPS working, it still was not able to lead us to the Iditarod Headquarters. We finally had to stop by a local store and they were able to re-direct us to the correct road. It is worth a detour while heading to or... More
