The platforms, especially the lower blind, enable easy watching and close photography of the bears meandering the hillside and fishing in the creek. The creek with its moss covered rocks and trees is particularly beautiful and an excellent backdrop for bear watching and photography.

We were guided to Anan Creek by Bob at AK Charters & Adventure, which I highly, highly recommend. It was a small party of six people so we could have personalized time and get to know each other. The ride over was informative with all...More

Well worth a visit. Got to see the bears up close including bear cubs with their mums. A great place to observe the bears catching and gorging themselves on the abundance of salmon. A must see whilst in Wrangell.

We booked through Alaska Waters. Not cheap but an unforgettable experience. The bears have learned to accept and ignore visitors - they just get on with the business of picking salmon from the river. It was a massive eye-opener to see them so relaxed, rather...More

We saw at least 10 black bears and 1 cub that day. So fantastic! The boat ride out and back was great. All the guides were very knowledgeable and informative.

We arrived on a boat tour from Wrangell - about 45 minutes one way. There are several tour operators in town offering basically the same tour, you should choose based on availability on your dates and the overall time spent... More

Peak season in Anan starts in early July. I believe you can find tours going there in July but not sure what will be your chances to see nears on the creek if the salmon is not running. I suggest you consult with the local... More
