We have used this company for the last 4 yrs on our annual black canyon adventure. Always good equipment and best of all extremely experienced and knowledgeable about the area. They are the friendliest crew on the water we have noticed!

Our scout troop has been enjoying the Kayaking the Colorado river with Desert River Kayak for many. Miss Helen, Blair and the team are amazing. They worked tirelessly to ensure our group have the absolute great time in the river. From scheduling, boat assignment, paddling for younger children, picking up and dropping off from our campsites.

We planned a weekend tubing trip down the Colorado River with Desert River Outfitters. We went from the Laughlin strip down to Rotary park in Bullhead, Arizona. Before the trip we had a a number of questions and requests and Helen was both responsive and accommodating. She provided all the information we needed to have a fun and safe trip down the river. We had a great time and plan to schedule another trip with Desert River Outfitters in the future.

I took a trip with a group of 15 over Labor Day Weekend, so we required 8 permits. Helen was very prompt and accommodating as I tried to get my group together and figure out who was going over the course of several phone calls and the addition of 2 permits to the original 6 that I had booked.

On the days leading up to the trip, Helen made sure that we had everything all lined up and ready to go. The canoes, paddles, and PFDs were all in good shape. When we arrived, she had the canoes ready and my group started loading gear immediately. She was knowledgeable, professional, and prompt. My group really appreciated her advice.

When it came time for pickup, my group was about 30 minutes early, but Helen was already there waving at us from the shore.

Thank you for helping us facilitate a fantastic trip, Helen! I would wholeheartedly recommend her to anyone and I would absolutely go with her for another trip.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!
My group flew to Arizona from Tennessee, and they completely forgot about our reservations for a 3 day camping and kayak trip! As a result, my group had to wait 5 hours for them to even send us some old kayaks, then paddle up stream for 3 days, and miss seeing the Hoover Dam entirely! Oh and to top it off, Desert River Kayaks never even picked us up on the scheduled pick up day. The owner, Helen Howard said they just forgot! She blamed everything on “co-workers” even though I personally spoke to Helen by phone and email no less than 5 times about this trip. So again, thank you Helen for ruining my families summer vacation that we planned and saved for so long. You’re a terrible person.

I have wanted to do this for so long.
The prices from the tour companies out of LAS VEGAS were crazy,
$169 TO $129
We found DESERT RIVER KAYAK, I know they are a small company, but at $40 they are all we needed and more in line with the vendors we used in other locations, from FLORIDA TO ALASKA.
They provided all the information we needed.
They were a little late but waiting for us when we returned
The weaher was perfect, the river amazing, good friends, beautiful day.

I ALWAYS WANT TO SUPPORT THE SMALLER BUSINESS

It pains me to write this review because I went out of my way to try to bring this seemingly smaller operation some business. I made arranegments for a party of 5 to kayak down the Colorado River weeks in advance. I called the week before the trip to inquire about wet suits, but I also noted the day of the trip and the group size. I received a response to my inquiry days before the planned trip. The day of the trip....this company failed to appear at the rendevous point. The two teen girls that were eager to experience this spring break adventure were left completely disappointed, as were the three adults with them. The owner called soon after we headed back to Vegas, she profusely apologized and claimed that our party was simply not entered on the calendar. I found that extremely hard to believe. She offered to drive to the canyon and put us in the water for free, we declined. There isn't much to say, and I haved already speculated on the....truthfulness of her explanation, so all I will add is that people should be cautious with this company.

This was a great day trip in Bullhead City. Contacted Helen and reserved a day trip for myself and granddaughter; she made easy reservations for the following day. Upon arrival the following day, Amy left note letting me know she was going to be late, due to other groups running late. Amy was great, kind and fun. She gave us a lot of info on places to see in Bullhead City. Once we arrived by the Davis Dam, she helped us get ready and gave us her phone number. The Colorado River was crowded and full of jet skis' and she showed concerned for our safety. Amy told us to stay close to the Arizona side and take it slow. We went all the way to Rotary Park- took about 4 hours, but my granddaughter and I kayak the entire way and had a blast. Yes, there was a lot of jet skis' a lot of boats and rude people, trying to make us tip over, but the entire trip down the Colorado River was worth it. Upon our arrival at Rotary Park, we called her and she greeted us with a smile and took us back to our car. Amy was very professional and knowledgeable. We highly recommend this trip, but beware of the jet skis...stay close to shore....

Helen was good to work with. Her knowledge of the Hoover Dam and the river was a great addition to our river trip. We put in just below the Hoover Dam and spent 2 nights on the Colorado river traveling down to Willow Beach Campground. We stayed both nights at Arizona Hot Springs (only place between the two points that has an outhouse). The night was hot but the early morning got cool enough to need a light blanket. The river was placid in the mornings but would run heavy when the Hoover Dam was releasing water in the afternoon. We had to move our camp a few times as the water levels rose 2-3 feet in the afternoon. Tie down your canoes/kayaks or they will float away when the water rises. Bring plenty of water and sun block! Fishing was terrible above Willow Beach but not bad at Willow Beach as they release trout there. Lots of fun will definitely do it again!
