Fun hike

Spent the afternoon checking out this park and trails. Easy trails and very peaceful, a short drive from Scotsdale.

Very nice trails for hiking, biking, and horse riding. We hiked the 5 mile Go John trail, which was very scenic, great hiking paths, and well marked. This is a wonderful park on the north side of Phoenix!

I came here with my dad to work off some Easter calories, and it did the trick! The Go John trail is a longer hike than some of the others in the park, and allows for horses, so start early in the morning and bring plenty of water! I recommend going counter clockwise as the eastern part of the trail... More

I only had an hour and this was a nice "filler." Good place for pics, especially when in bloom. I think horseback riding would be a better option than hiking, as there are elevated, narrow and rocky trails. Make sure you have plenty of water and watch out for snakes!

We paid the voluntary one dollar to get in, and hiked an easy trail. I wish we were prepared with more water and could have gone further in, because it looked awesome. Next time.

We did the Overton Trail one morning and the Maricopa another. We saw many beautiful horses on the trail and the horseback tour guides were very friendly. In fact, everyone we met on the trail was friendly! There are many different length and difficulty level trails, so you can choose what fits you and your abilities/interests. Due to all the... More

The spring flowers were in full bloom. We hiked the Slate trail to the Overton trail to the Go John trail and back to the parking lot. It was a moderate hike that this flatlander was able to maneuver without any difficulties. Be careful of the horses as they utilize the same trails. We also stopped at the nature center.... More

Great spot to take a quick view or hike simple marked trails. The desert was is bloom during our trip and magnificent. The staff in the visitor center are very helpful and accommodating. Clean bathrooms and fun little gift shop area. My daughter loved the rattlesnake and desert animals (behind glass of course). On occasion, the forest ranger will have... More

This was our second RV stay at the park. We came to see the spring bloom and were not disappointed. The park was awash with color! There are extensive hiking trails which are not too strenuous nor too rocky making hiking a pleasure. The park is convenient to the towns of Cave Creek and Carefree and to the rodeo grounds....
