Don't play here if you are the least bit serious about golf. I am told they are working on improving it but the price they charge is way too high. The tee blocks and greens have grass. though they are both long. the fairways are mostly in good shape but still lots of bare dirt. the rough is dirt or weeds.
When i nicely tried to say i wasnt impressed in the pro shop i got told "its a desert course" as the excuse for the "rough". I have played desert courses in AZ & NV and never anything like that. the fact the dirt crept into the fairway is clear evidence it wasn't planned!
There are other courses in the area that are much better for slightly more money.

The course was in terrible shape. The tee boxes needed mowed and the tee markers were not even in place. The fairways were bumpy and very sparse. The amount we paid was ridiculous, what a disappointing experience

I played Huukan Golf Club with my adult son. The reason we picked this course was because it was partnered with another course we played the previous day Mojave Resort Golf Club, which is a beautiful course.
I cannot call this course a "Cow Pasture" as it is too kind of a phrase. This course is a dump. Although the greens were in great shape, the rest of the course was ugly. The tee boxes were okay at best. There were many divots on the tees and although there was grass on the tees, the divots were never covered and made level with sand, seed and fertilizer. You had trouble getting your feet set for your tee shot. Once you hit your tee shot, the fairways were damaged. By this I mean there were literally major pieces of the fairways that were hard-packed dirt. Unfortunately, there were times when you hit good drives or other good shots, only to be punished by your ball hitting one of these huge hard-packed areas and going were your ball would have been if you hit a BAD shot. For the most part, the green areas were neat and grassy; however, there were no sand traps. Now, whereas that might seem like a plus for most golfers, let me explain: What looked like sand traps on every hole, including nearly all of the fairway traps, had a combination of hard, coarse sand and gravel. I am not making this up. My son and I had a good laugh at the signs in the cart reminding us to rake the trap after use. Perhaps a shovel would have been a better tool to use. We both decided not to play out of these gravel traps for fear that we would irreparably damage our golf clubs. When we got to the 18th hole, again, I kid you not, one of the traps had more gravel than sand and I am talking quarter-sized pieces of gravel. It and other traps looked like a concrete contractor could use the stuff to build a cart path. At the sister course that we played the previous day, we were charged $49 each; a sweet deal considering its immaculate nature. We were charged $55 each to play this dump. It is a shame as this course is nicely designed. It is not too long ("Tips" approx. 6,500 yards) with the "Forward" tees around 5,300 yards. I agree that the staff was very likeable; however, one worker I believe was a stand-up comic before getting the job as a starter here. He told us prior to us going out to the first tee: "Oh, by the way, there are a 'few' bare spots out there, so just move your ball to an acceptable grassy spot." Well, there were a whole lot more than a "few". We approximated that at least 60% of the actual available "playing areas" on every hole, were bare and hard-packed. It would take a miracle and a couple of million dollars to get this course looking ike a golf course. Right now, IT IS A JOKE!
