SAMREC is Port Elizabeth's new marine bird rehabilitation and education centre situated in the Cape Recife Nature Reserve. The centre's purpose isn't just to rescue and rehabilitate, but to also inform and educate the public through their different programs.Tour our marine rehab and education centre and experience nature through sight, sound and touch.Visitors can experience the hospital and see the volunteers in action helping to save our environment, in particular the endangered African Penguin.

I love Samrec and have adopted a penguin here . The centre is clean and really nice to visit . The staff are friendly and very caring . There is a little learning centre where you can feel penguin fur and learn about them

Visited on a day the Penguins were being released into to sea , it was great watching the walk to freedom and tentative return to the sea , they do good work here

I took my two year old granddaughter to visit. She was fascinated by the penguins in the pool outside. The tour was very informative and she loved the touch displays.

It's only small but we had a very good tour from enthusiastic staff (Chanel). Thankfully, there's no attempt to mimic a zoo, which is definitely a good thing.

These Penguins looked well & happy in their environment,we saw them being fed ,this was a good experience for us ,however all family groups especially the young would like this facility to visit.

Small but very interesting and educational rehabilitation center run by a dedicated group of volunteers. Well worth a visit while in Port Elizabeth. Great for children. K

hello I certainly would recommend it. they have an educational room set out specifically for children were they xan touch the displays. its not a big site so easy for little ones to walk about. enjoy it
