We had an excellent experience with African Eagels with the half-day tour to Pretoria in early March 2020. Were picked up on time from our hotel at OR Tambo airport with a neat bus and the guide Vincent. The guide stayed with us throughout the tour and told a lot about South Africa and about Pretoria. The man is an ongoing history book. All entrances were arranged and we were dropped off at our hotel on time for the flight to Cape Town. An experience that we think back to with pleasure

We went on private half day tour and for first time transit visitors to Joburg this was a great option. We were picked up at our guesthouse and dropped off at location for lunch escorted by guide Vincent to choice of restaurants at Mandela Square. What I liked about half day tour is that we got the explanation of history etc by just visiting key locations and neighbourhoods without being dragged through museums. We got to see the whole spectrum of Joburg from rich neighbourhoods(Houghton) to inner city ghetto (Hilbrow). We got to see the old business district and the gold story. Then we did Soweto. All very efficient, comfortable and interesting. Vincent was very well informed and smart guy who had interesting opinions to share. Would really recommend same if you find yourselves tight for time and don’t like having to do heavy duty museum trawling. Although we did spend some time in the fascinating yet sobering Hector Pieterson memorial. Probably overspent our time there but no pressure was put on us and we got back to Sandton well after our allotted time (tip due of course). Not overpriced either in my opinion so go private to ensure good experience.

My partner and I booked a half day tour of Johannesburg and Soweto prior to our flight home. We were lucky to be allocated Pascal as our guide. He was brilliant. He had a detailed knowledge of the city and all sites that we visited, as well as being friendly, engaging, punctual and safety conscious. We were pleasantly surprised by how much we enjoyed the tour and would highly recommend.
