The gallery celebrated its hundredth anniversary a few years ago. A great choice of contemporary south african artists and amazing sculptures. Playful and inspiring!

This gallery epitomises the Johannesburg art scene, they represent most of the upcoming , collectable artists and are situated slap bang in the middle of the art mile. There are a couple of fab places to have lunch across the road as well as to visit the CIRCA gallery. Worth visiting on a long leisurely saturday,

The gallery's been around as far as I can remember. Popping in from time to time always yields interesting and engaging surprises.

Everard Read is an inspiring space. Pity we missed the Matthew Hindley exhibit, but we were pleasantly suprised by the other pieces. On display was now Guy du Toit's whimsical Hare There and Everywhere series.

Everard Read is a local art institution that has promoted dozens of local artists, especially previously disadvantaged artists, into acclaim. It is a great place to go to get a sense of some of the established and emerging artists, although be prepared to pay a price. If you go and find any artist you like or cannot find anything you... This is a beautiful, airy space with niche sculpture gardens hidden around. Michael McGarry exhibit on now is great. Highly recommended for contemporary southern African art.
