Situated on the eastern slopes of Table Mountain, Kirstenbosch is internationally acclaimed as one of the seven most magnificent botanical gardens in the world. The 528 hectares estate includes a cultivated garden and a nature reserve. The developed garden displays collections of southern African plants including many rare and endangered species. There are also visitor facilities in the garden including restaurants, a nursery, a gift shop, a bookshop and a permanent Zimbabwean stone sculpture exhibition.

There is an admission charge for the gardens. They do have bathrooms inside. Parking can be a challenge, especially on a busy day. We toured the gardens way too fast in about an hour and a half. I suggest taking more time to wander around...More

Located on the "other side" of Table Mountain, Kirstenbosch Gardens provides an oasis of incredibly designed and maintained flora which will be enjoyed by enthusiasts as well as those just seeking out a peaceful spot to spend a few hours.

Excellently maintained, stunning views, exceptional gardens. Easily a whole day could be spent wandering these gorgeous and un-crowded surroundings. We went for the Boomslang but stayed 5 hours with our children.

As long as you want to take. Wear comfortable shoes and clothes. There are some steep hills. Kirstenbosch is very serene. There are benches everywhere, you can sit back and enjoy the view of the mountains, ocean, nature... More

The canopy bridge, the dinosaur valley, the sculptures, obviously the plants, take time to slow down and enjoy the tranquility, too.
