Well worth a visit, for the History and the great vistas. Close to the Voortrekker monument and Groenkloof nature reserve, for a great days outing (and or use your MTB for a cycle tour)

On Friday, after touring the Voortrekker Monument and Fort Schanskop we went on to Fort Klapperkop, arriving around 14h30 - only to be greeted by closed gates and a guard who informed us that the fort was closed due to "a meeting". Well, OK, meetings...More

What a lovely place to have a look out over Pretoria, it seems safe and there are benches where you can sit and look out. Unfortunately the museum is closed over the festive period.

The Fortklapperkop Military Museum is a wonderful exhibition that does marvelous work with limited resources and support. The surrounding area and views are spectacular especially at sunset and sunrise. This is a perfect weekend outing for the whole family.

Placed right on top of a mountain, overlooking the now modern highways, this fort provides a clear view for miles. No wonder the cannons face this expanse. Very interestingly laid out, and provides an in-depth understanding of military history
