Welcome to an Eden hidden in the West Rand of Gauteng where beautiful nature welcomes visitors and the rushing water of the Witpoortjie Waterfall, gushing from a height of 70 metres, soothes and revitalises careworn city-dwellers. The garden is home to a pair of breeding Verreaux's Eagles (Black Eagles) which have become proud symbols of this majestic garden. Walking, hiking, picnics, exercising, bird watching, relaxing, nature appreciation, are some of the popular activities of visitors to the garden.

Relax with a picnic and take a walk to the waterfall and watch the eagles or go to the bird-hide. There is also a nice restaurant for lunch.

The Walter Sisulu Botanical Gardens is a peaceful visit to nature. The surroundings are stunning and the waterfall is a must see.

This botanical garden in the city brings nature to our doorstep. It is just unfortunate that other visitors try to reach the eagles nest thereby disturbing the eagles and possibly chasing them away.

What a great scenic botanical garden! Loads of space to relax, have a picnic and take walks or hikes. Has a beautiful waterfall and a peaceful vibe. I proposed to my fiancée here.

Try it. A nearby gem.. do the mountain walk. Take a hat and sun-cream in summer. Enjoyed the waterfall and climb.

I was treated disrespectfully. (On the phone) by the female who handles tours. When I asked if I could join a tour as a single person, she laughed. Unless she was laughing at something else, I find her attitude disrespectful. My enthusiasm to visit your garden has diminished. I am an overseas visitor and have never been treated like this. The line was so bad that I couldn't make out what she was saying. I gave her my long distance number and she hasn't called back

Is it possible to bring wine to your picnic? Or does this fall under the 'no drinking in public' law? Thanks!
