Although we have driven around the meander many times this is the first time I have had a chance to write a review. There are dozens of craft shops along the route and many many restaurants which will suit everybody's tastes. Among my favourite restaurants are Granny Mouse,Bierfasl and Rawdons but will get round to sampling each one. The meander... More

the midlands meander is a dream come to true for sight seeing and for spending time out at the various exotic resturants, shops along the drive. visiting the chocolate factories, biltong factories.leather factories.one can buy at reasonable price./I love to visit PIGGLY WIGGLY. lots of fun entertainments for children. places to eat, lovely shops. the train ride is a Must... To get the most of the Meander one has to reserve time. I have taken friends many times and we linger so long in each place we never really get far! You could conclude that the Midlands Meander is an overblown concept promoted by someone in the tourist office – just what I thought before undertaking the Meander especially having to pay R10 for the Midlands Meander guidebook at the Tourist Information centre in Howick – the guidebook is jam packed with advertising – so why the charge???? Took two weeks to investigate both sides of the midlands meander so many hidden gems and so many quaint places which such rich heritage and lush nature and experience definitely a good educational trip too!

What a wonderful area to cover whilst travelling from Johannesburg to Durban or the Coast. Great Hopsitality and somethign to different to do each and every day.

We decided to hit the Midlands Meander for the weekend and only booked accommodation the day before. It is a trip we have made many times but this time we had a newcomer and although we have done so many trips, it was fabulous to rediscover so many amazing places along the route through someone else eyes Always a hit...
