Once, the Sani Pass was a rough mule trail descending the Eastern Highlands of old Basutoland into Natal. Tough drovers brought wool and mohair down the Pass on donkeys and mules to be exchanged for blankets, clothing and maize meal, the essentials for life in a remote, impoverished country. And a young man had a dream of operating a motor vehicle service up this fantastic Pass, using the 4-wheel drive vehicles he had seen on service in World War II. His name was David Alexander and he founded this Company in 1955. It has operated on the Sani Pass ever since.

Absolutely worth taking a trip with Sani Pass Tours. Guides are fantastic and so knowledgeable about the history of the pass. Friendly outgoing tour guide which made the trip so enjoyable. The vehicles were in excellent condition and made the trip much more comfortable considering how rocky it is.

I am usually a little scared of all things height related so I was nervous about the tour. Not necessary! we had a very careful driver and the road is actually pretty good. We had a nice tour with about 8 people in the 4x4 van. The 'traditional' village put up to 'educate' us about local culture we could have... More

We were very impressed and enjoyed a lovely day trip on a very rainy and chilly Saturday. Our guide, Frank, was great fun and very knowledgeable. He was also great with the little kids that were in our car. The car itself was comfortable, and we had enough room in the front row of seats. Unfortunately, we didn't get much... More

Our drive Serby was absolutely lovely, very professional, excellent driver and really knowledgeable. The roads are pretty hairy and he was very skilful and made us feel very safe. Overall the tour was great, shame about the weather (very foggy) but still worth it. Thank you!!!!

We did the trip with Sani Pass Tours, with a friendly drive/ guide Frank. A nostalgic trip as we had lived in Lesotho nearly 40 years before. Beautiful views and wide open spaces, enough flora and fauna to keep us interested. The 'highest pub in Africa' is friendly and fun. the few huts you are taken to in Lesotho are... More

We took a trip with Sani Pass Tours on December 30th. Absolutely brilliant and worth every cent. Our driver Frank, was especially knowledgeable about the area, as well as fauna and flora which made the trip even more enjoyable. Highly recommended!

Booked a Day a trip with Sani Pass Day Tours. The trip did not dissapoint, lived up to expectations and more. Our guide Wilson was articulate; very knowledgeable; charismatic and aware. The road requires a skilled driver and even then some. We felt safe with Wilson. He made the day fun and we appreciated his attentiveness. Would absolutely recommend the... More

We took the tour to Sani Pass on October 19 having transferred from Durban with another tour company. There were 5 other people with us, all from different countries. We had a GREAT day! The guide "Leo" was funny and gave us a lot of insight to life in this area. The most important thing is that he was a... More

We opted to contact Sani Pass Tours (the first company that pops up when you Google Sani Pass) to find out whether we could tag along on a trip up Sani Pass. Not knowing Sani Pass and where the best photo opportunities were, we thought it would be better to follow someone that knows the area. We travelled with our... More

If you are in the area, spare a day for Sani Pass. Sani Pass Tours was great, very friendly staff and the guide was well informed. There was no question he couldn't answer about the world heritage site. This was a day well spend.
