Mark Dixon has the widest and into detail knowledge anybody could have!!!

I am one of those strange people who do not like to share company with others. I might bring a friend, that is all. Mark was giving us 2 the most amazing 3 days in his area. We... read more

This is a popular holiday resort, a long stretches of unspoilt beach and the tranquil lagoon which makes a perfect setting for a peaceful holiday. The Wilderness rest camps are situated on the Touw River lagoon, where the Serpentine flows into it.

I am one of those strange people who do not like to share company with others. I might bring a friend, that is all. Mark was giving us 2 the most amazing 3 days in his area. We did a walk in the Knysna woods, where there live still elephants, not that you see them, but you might see one... More

10 of us women have just completed this trail. I cannot find the words to adequately describe how fantastic it was. There was some canoeing up pristine rivers with forests growing down to the banks, some beach walking, some dune forest walking, - hardly a soul to be seen along beaches unspoilt by human habitation. Mark is the perfect guide,... More

The Garden Route Trail offers magnificent views over the Lagoon and Indian Ocean. It is definitely a MUST SEE when you are visiting George and Wilderness .

This is a fun and easy hike, the trail is well marked and much of it is a walkway with lots of stairs. The pontoon crossing is a lot of fun to do.

I spent three days touring with Mark Dixon, forest hiking and a beach walk. We went to some beautiful, out of the way trails and Mark shared an amazing amount of knowledge along the way. Mark was very flexible to accommodate my schedule and worked with me to design the perfect itinerary, including meeting me at the airport. I enjoyed... More

Don't be put off by people saying South Africa is dangerous... just use your common sense, there are some areas on the outskirts of Cape Town but once you're away on the R62 Garden Route it's the scenery that will take your breath away not the crime!

Absolutely lovely driving and staying along the Garden Route. Hermanus is beautiful - gorgeous beaches that stretch for miles while whales play off shore where they can be seen. Plan your trip around September/October to coincide with the whales coming in close to birth. Wilderness is a town to take in the native bush, birdlife and animals while hiking or... More

..as a lad from the beautiful countryside in the UK I fully expected this World re-known area to be the highlight of a month in South Africa..well, it is beautiful and in some areas quite remote..apart from the huge size of everything e.g. the deep sided river valleys, I was not very impressed..it's just a playground for the town lovers..lots... Wilderness must be one my favourite places on this planet. The encroaching forest lures you into its misty mistique, beckoning with wavey treebeard adorning the old giants who compel you to linger and slow your step. Lush glistening ferns frame humble orchids and ten zillion different plants and flowers for us who have been humbled by the insane beauty into... More
