I visited the park in September at the end of the dry season and boy was it dry... with most waterholes completely dried up! April would be an ideal time to visit here and the Drakensberg Mountain range if you like your grass green rather...More

Since your arrival in upington you can feel and breathe the desert sand that covers everything if it is windy. It is a huge and silent park and even when if is fully booked you can feel nearly alone and taste the slow movements of...More

We have been to so many National Parks, and the No1 is Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park The facilities are clean in the camps. The staff are so friendly they felt like family from the moment you arrive until you leave. Wow wow wow, it cannot be...More

Even better than Kruger National Park. We love Kgalagadi Park. Camps are small. So there are not many people. All the camps are kept very tidy. Bedding clean and fresh. 4x4 camps are a must. No fenching. So you can experience all the wild animals...More

This was our first trip to this park, although we have safaried in Namibia, Botswana, and several times in South Africa. Accommodations in National Park chalets were variable, but all were quite serviceable. Animal viewing can be excellent, but one never knows when on safari....More

We have been here several times, most often on the lesser-used Mabuesehube area in Botswana. There is a road across the park (but you need four-wheel drive as the sand dunes are sometimes high and the road rough). Good camping (and on the Botswana side...More

This is a wonderful place. It allows you to get away from the mad rush of the city (and places like the Ngorongoro crater and Kruger Park). More for the lover of the wild than someone looking to claim 'I've been there'. Still remarkably rich...More

A must visit! One of South Africa's gems. Only gravel road, but high clearance vehicle will be sufficient.

We stayed for 4 nights in the kalahari tented camp -- well situated overlooking a waterhole. Unfenced which makes it even better. We saw lions every night here and they treated us to the most exhilarating roaring a few metres from us. We saw herds...More

Once in a life time experience! Have visited here 4 times during the last two years. Lovely to be far away from any cellphone signal, picnic in the bush and relaxing wild life.

Hi, The answers below are all correct. Must agree 4 X 4 is better. One thing not mentioned, if you go in at twee rivieren let them know you are going out at Mata Mata, because they must stamp your passport, if you do not... More

Is there a nearby airport to this Park? Do I have to fly to Johannesburg or Cape Town?

The answers are correct. Best option is to fly Cape Town, then Upington. Would recommend a 4WD vehicle, though not necessity. There is fuel at the park, both at Twee Rivieren and Mata Mata, but not sure about Nossob.
