For starters the place has a lions park and a chimp world. We didn't see a lot of chimps or any monkeys though. Would probably have bought tickets for the Lions visit only. The visit is unguided and the best time to be there is during feeding in the afternoon. Our child was delighted seeing so many lions in one... More

This is a wonderful place to experience the roar of lions so incredibly close to Cape Town. I am not a tent person however the comfortable beds and 'proper' adjoining bathrooms make it very comfortable. One has the place to oneself after closing time (5pm) and one can really take time to enjoy the lions and a few tigers. A... More

My nephew has a love for all animals so the lion park seemed like a good idea. This trip was all about him. Needless to say he enjoyed watching them, he was a bit sad that they were all sleeping or sluggish. He Also wanted to know why they cant play together like in the movies (different enclosures). He so... More

We really enjoyed our time here, learning about the rescued Lions and the wonderful work they are doing to provide a dignified home for these animals who are not able to return to the wild. Very thought provoking hearing about the Lion business and it's unethical treatment. This is a must for all people and animal lovers, there is a... More

Totally awesome experience the work these people do is amazing .The lions and tigers that they rescue and rehabilitate are so well cared for.We stayed in the private tents overnight and we had a host called Barbara who looked after us for the evening, she prepared a braai for us which was really tasty;overall our experience was five star and recommended.

We came upon this place whilst out on a drive and thought it was worth a look. The cats have been rescued from various places such as the circus or private owners where they have been mistreated and hurt and the money taken for entry fees goes towards their keep - it costs about £10 for two adults. It is... More

This place is a true haven for animals that would otherwise be harmed. I have returned from safari now and have a different view of the Big Cats I love...but that doesn't make the Drakenstein Lion Park any less amazing. Go at 4pm for feeding time...it's worth it! And if you can stop at Klein Joostenberg and the Stellenbosch Brewery,... More

My husband and I actually visited Jan 2016 and we're impressed with the facility. The animals are well cared for and the lions in particular are housed in extremely large and natural looking bush enclosures with the tigers housed in slightly smaller enclosures. This is a sanctuary for abused animals so unlike small and barren zoo enclosures, the big cats... More
