We did this journey from Johannesburg to Cape Town. We had read previous reviews and were therefore aware of the possible delays. We arrived in Cape Town 5 hours late (due to signalling problems) but this was at the beginning of our holiday so we had already made sure that there was no pressure on ourselves, and we were therefore... I totally agree with the review Premier Classe Disaster. I wish to add my experience of additional lack of service and management. I missed my Friday evening flight to Durban due to our delay. I changed my flight by phone to Saturday morning which added an additional charge to the airfare. I was allowed to spend Friday night on the... More

Quite an experience. Staff very pleasant and helpful. The train is in the process of being revamped so curtains and furnishings sparse. But you get what you pay for. Not the Blue Train so don't lift your expectations. Food very average. Train clean and bedding spotless. BUT.... toilet brushes totally unacceptable and hygienically foul. Taps loose in washbasins making it... More

So there are a lot of mixed reviews about this train, but we had a wonderful trip. There are two things to expect: 1) you might be delayed anywhere from 1-8 hours (we were delayed 4 hrs but didn't mind as we expected it!) so just accept that as a possibility; 2) the air conditioning might not work the entire... “Premier Classe” - our experience was neither “Premier or of any class” The is most disastrous experience I have ever had in any country, and that in my own country as a proud South African. The embarrassing part is that most people on this train was foreigners on tour through South Africa and what was showcased on this trip: 1.... More

Recently travelled from Cape Town to Jo'burg on the Premier Classe Train. I read some awful reviews and felt we had made a mistake booking it. Not so! Don't expect Rovos Rail, it isn't and you're not paying for that level of service. It offers great value for money and a very enjoyable experience coupled with a good standard. You... More

We just loved the train trip from Cape Town to Johannesburg. My daughter and I had a single's compartment each and, while small, it was extremely comfortable. There were showers at one end of the carriage and toilets on either end. They were always kept clean. They really feed you on this train. We started out with champagne and snacks... More

We travelled from Jhb to CT. Overall mediocre. Premier class is definitely not what it's cracked up to be. We left over an two hours late. The staff on the train were good but are clearly battling difficulties. No hand towels, no side plates (saucers instead!?), moth eaten Premier Class bath robes - please don't steal them!! Who would want... More

This experience was a massive disappointment. They over promised (in terms of price too) and under delivered on almost everything else. The train ran late which it seems to do regularly. Food was mediocre. Staff pleasant enough but not something I am going to rush back to experience again

On arrival the greeting lounge was full, not enough seating, and the bathroom had a welcoming party of cockroaches. I was pleased with my cabin, a single comparment, but on a closer look saw that the advertised cottan/fleece gown was nowhere, and that the cabin phone had been ripped out. So no ability to order in, as advertised. Plus note... More
