South Africa's oldest place of worship. First church built in 1678. Present church built in 1841. Clock tower is original. The pulpit is a magnificent carving by Anton Anreith. Worth a stop to see the pulpit.

The Groove Kerk is the oldest Church in South Africa and resembles the atmosphere of the reformation where the Word of God is central in every service. Its an architectural masterpiece with lots of history. Add a service in your CT calendar when visiting!

The white, calm serenity of the interior offers a break from city life. Aim to visit on a Sunday after the sermon - it is worthwhile to be shown around by the knowledgeable guide. Magnificent organ music too!

This is a well preserved inner sanctum of a church that was beautifully built in the slavery days. Anton Anrieth carved the most beautiful pulpit and it is the home of South African/ Scottish Presbyterianism. Catch a recital on Sundays and look out in the...More

Go visit the Groote Kerk. I does not take long to walk though but is quite cool to see the detail in the architecture of the church.
