No need for a guide. Beautiful foliage. Stunning Views

We were told we needed a guide to hike Devil's Peak. This is not true if you are in reasonable shape and can follow a few trail signs. Turn on to Tafelberg Road and drive 4KM to... read more

We were told we needed a guide to hike Devil's Peak. This is not true if you are in reasonable shape and can follow a few trail signs. Turn on to Tafelberg Road and drive 4KM to parking- past the Tram building and past the parking lot for Platteklip Gorge. You will see a Trailhead for Devil's Peak. The standard... More

It's quite an effort to get to the top. Take plenty of water. The view from the peak is absolutely breathtaking. 360 degrees view of our magnificent city, well worth the effort. Lovely to have a picnic lunch at the top. Budget 5 hrs round trip.

A hike to the summit of Devil's Peak was awesome. Few people do this hike since most prefer Table Mountain. The views from the top are amazing! Absolutely recommend everyone to do this trek.

This is an excellent half-day hike, but I advise starting as soon as it gets light to avoid getting roasted in the sun. There are many routes up. Starting near the Rhodes Memorial (on the edge of the UCT campus) is a more direct route that involves some scrambles on the rocky sections and some exposure as you traverse the... More

Overall it is a moderate hiking and It starts almost in the end of the Tafelberg Road (there is a sign in the beginning). The top can be very windy, so keep a jacket in your backpack.

Devils Peak was a delight! Views with no crowds! It's steep (what isn't on Table Mt), and its hot in January as there is no shade. Good boot/shoe tread is best since gravel/ sand is loose and very steep toward the top. Bring plenty of water, wear a hat and sunscreen as with any TM hike in January. Don't be... More

Did the walk to the top of Devils Peak in Jan 2017. Not the easiest walk, but well worth the effort. Views over Cape Town are stunning.

This larger peak is a stark contrast to the generally flat appearance of Table Mountain. It is the high peak that sits opposite of Lion's Head; when facing Table Mountain from Cape Town, it is the large peak on the left. This is a significant hiking challenge, comparable to the hike up Table Mountain. Bravado will diminish as you approach... More
