This is not a Sanctuary. This is a zoo, a terrible one. They keep a ton of chickens and other birds which aren’t even remotely native to South Africa.
Very depressing. Birds are kept in tiny cages, the terrain is old and filthy.
Don’t support animal abuse by going there, don’t go.

Lots of birds and other rescued animals. It's a zoo crammed with birds of every kind from South Africa.

There’s a large range of beautiful birds but most of them just looked sad in very restrictive cages. I liked the way you could walk through from one area to the next, but we only made it half way around before deciding it was too depressing.

This bird park was one of the stops on the hop-on/hop-off bus route. We went after it had rained which meant the place was quite muddy and smelly! There were plenty of birds and other animals- probably would be quite enjoyable for younger kids. But for me it wasn’t somewhere I would go again - it wasn’t on a par with some bird parks I’ve visited in the past.

Great to see the little monkeys...
....
The only negative was the lack of help at the end. I had been informed by everyone that ALL places in Cape Town had wifi (to call an Uber, for example). I tried to contact them to confirm this, but no one answered. I went ahead, since everyone told me that all places have wifi, but they did not. That's fine, but when I asked if they could call a taxi or something, no help was given.

This is not a sanctuary. It’s a zoo.
There is no rehabilitation program and the facility is dirty and sad. I felt completely heart broken after visiting this place.

World of Birds & Monkey Jungle is a stop on the Hop on / Hop off bus tour. We hopped off and were glad we did. Admission was around $5. This place is big. They gave us a map and there are trails winding all over. Most of it is inside aviaries with the birds all around you. There are lots of doves and ibis but a wide variety of other birds we weren’t familiar with. They were supposed to have a pelican feeding at 12:30 but we didn’t get there in time.
I saw Monkey Jungle on this map. It is a part of The World of Birds. There were signs pointing the way to it. They said it closed at 1pm. We skipped some of the birds and hurried over to the monkey cage. We got there at 12:45 and got inside. The cage was large with a lot of vegetation. In the middle were a few places to sit. There were a couple dozen black-faced spider monkeys in it. They were little things. A zoo keeper would whistle and hold his hand over someone’s head. Monkeys would jump all over the person. The keeper would feed them sunflower seeds.
All in all, we had a very enjoyable afternoon, then returned to Cape Town on the ho/ho bus.

My wife and I visited the park on 05 May 2023 (my wife's first time but my 2nd time at the park) in the morning and while getting out of the first aviary, one of the doors (metallic door with fencing) suddenly closed behind my wife. The fencing of the door was loose and of the meshes gave my wife a deep cut on the back of her ankle. We went back to the reception where the lady got scared upon seeing the severity of the injury and provided her with some first aid help. However, no one from the management bothered to reach out to us and to provide us any kind of help. We had to incur the cost of transportation, medical expenses at a clinic and medicines and injection on our own.
We were on our honeymoon from Mauritius and this turned out to be a horrible experience to us. We would not recommend this place to other people especially kids until the management ensures that the park is safer.

Small bird sanctuary - birds are in quite small cages. - Anyways, there are many animals to see - for small kids maybe not bad -
