Relatively short walk, only 3.6km. The hills and descents are very steep. Be sure to take your camera and eats because when you reach the Homtini River the rewards are satisfying and you will want to spend some time there. The waters of the river are very refreshing and is a great idea to take your swim wear for a dip in the summer.

Earlier this year we discovered magical haven hidden in the middle of the Knysna forest. While browsing the Internet for various hikes and trails in the area, I stumbled across the Drupkelders trail. It was fairly nearby the accomodation we were staying at and after a morning of markets and good food we decided to get our hearts pumping and... More

The unfit should be weary as the return hike is indeed a bit of a challenge. Excellent scenery and indeed a wonderful way to spend the day with the family.

Challenging trail for the unfit with most of the work being put in on the way back. The river and rock pools are beautiful, however it is quite challenging to navigate the slippery rocks to get a closer look. Wear proper hiking shoes and watch your step, the trail is quite narrow in some places.

We did this hike on the brim and obviously did not see the reviews of how challenging this hike is. I should have gotten the hint when the guy at the gate where we bought the tickets made a comment about my shoes (normal cross trainers). Anyway, there we go and the first part was fine, until the very steep... More

Excellent. ...excellent...this hike is stunning a true jewel. We went for a hike today with the children. When doing this hike you get a true feel for what the Knysna Forest was like a century ago. The hike has stunning views of the forest and river gorge. Only 12 people are allowed in. This allows for a truly authentic experience.... More

Wow- what a beautiful place- yes- up and down quite steep, but I am almost 6 months pregnant and was fine (I am still exercising). If you can- take blow-up tubes with! When my friend suggested we do that I really thought it is unnecessary, but it helps you to see even more beautiful places! You should go on a... More

Quite a strenuous walk if you are not extremely fit. Have to book a place, only 12 people allowed at any one time. Call SanParks to make sure. Lovely woods and rocks. Quite steep and slippery, depending on season.

Fantastic place but not so easy to get to, very steep up and down but I am not the fittest person and I still managed to get back up in 40 mins. Worth it!

Down and up by same route, quite steep. Good swimming when you get down to the river. You must get a permit from parks board to go there.

We did this walk, although it is really beautiful , it was quite a tough walk. Very steep, but worth the effort. Not for unfit people. You can swim in the river, be prepared for cold but clear and clean water, or relax whilst sitting on one of the huge rocks along the river. Make sure you have a bottle... More
