The lagoon is a lovely body of water outside the town of Knysna. The entrance to the lagoon are the Knysna Heads which are 2 large rocks. Apparently the current at the entrance is treacherous.

Drive around the lagoon, visit Leasure Island on foot, wade through the shallow water and feel as if you can walk on water. Lovely.

We didn't do a boat tour but just drove around the lagoon area. The views are very pleasant and the birdlife in particular was good. The whole area reminded me of the Romney Marsh area in Kent.

This has to be one of the most popular and beautiful locations in South Africa. The azure water is an open invitation for water sports and beckons one to stop and soak in the beauty.

A leisurely trip, sometimes at speed, to view Knysna from the waterside. Mandy entertained us with her stories and with wine and snacks ;) very much appreciated :)

Knysna is scenic with a lagoon & safe swimming areas and has plenty to occupy most people. There are boats trips from the harbour, some good shopping areas and plenty of bars & restaurants. We enjoyed a beautiful sunset from one of the bars and wished we were staying a second night.

A stopping place on the Garden route from the Cape to Port Elizabeth. Very scenic, visited the Yatcht club and had a good reception and pleasant meal overlooking the lagoon on a sunny day.

By low tide a walk through the lagoon is very interesting. Check the tide table. By high tide good for swimming.
