This is not the best that South Africa can offer. With limited time to visit, see something else. Just ok nothing more.

An enjoyably hairy drive to the top of the pass with breathtaking views down into the valley and across range after range of surrounding mountains. Were I to do it again (less than likely) I would try to make sure that I was driving something with a little more ground clearance than a Ford Fiesta. Our guide, Jeremy, who we'd... More

Although the pass has been closed from about the middle of April due to a freak flash flood, it is still possible to cycle the pass. A group of five of us enjoyed a fantastic ride up the pass from Prince Albert and then down into the Gamkaskloof. The scenery is spectacular to say the least.

Swartberg did not disappoint with its stunning views! It was a great dirtroad trip narrow at places but otherwise way better than what we had just travelled(Baviaanskloof)And about to travel(Gamkaskloof). It has its own beauty...we went as far as the road closure where we turned off to Gamkaskloof...and driving back the afternoon the landscape reflected so.much differently to the morning...a... More

Did this pass in the rain. Quite a bit hair raising in a torrential downpour without knowing what to expect around each bend. I stayed close enough to another vehicle with local number plates hoping that they would be more familiar with the route and unknowingly safely guide us over to the other side. Even in the rain it's a... More
