Great Wine, Beautiful Estate
Sep 2020 • Couples
We stopped for a quick wine tasting at this beautiful estate. Easy to access from N1 via Klapmuts Road on way to Stellenbosch. Amazing red wines and very friendly and attentive staff that help with all information on these wines and other recommendations. The Kadette range is more affordable, but the Estate range offer some amazing wines. Highly recommend a visit.

Fine Wine
Mar 2020 • Couples
Had a great wine tasting experience here. The tasting featured 7 reds (they don’t do white wine). We opted at our guides recommendation to upgrade to taste their black label wine, which was unbelievable. We purchased a bottle of Kanonkop Kadette at which point our tasting was free. The person doing the tasting was informative and humorous and made it a great all round experience.

Our First Stop in the Winelands
Mar 2020 • Couples
Kanonkop was our first stop on our 3 day wine tasting adventure through the Cape Winelands. Before heading to SA, we did a ton of research to find the most award winning, high quality wines, great settings, etc. So, after reading quite a bit about Kanonkop, we really wanted to try their wines, especially their Pinotage, since they have some of the best, according many blogs, reviews, wine magazines, etc.

The tasting room was a lovely warm intimate space, and we stood at the tasting counter and had a great experience chatting with the person pouring the wines. It was 10am and the coronavirus was starting to be a concern, so the place wasn’t very busy, so we did get a lot of attention and great service. Since we were traveling back to the US, we only had room to take 12 bottles of wine home with us, and we ended up with a black label Pinotage, which we will save for a special occasion. It was the only bottle of Pinotage we bought on the trip, and quite frankly, the only one we tasted in the 3 days that was worth buying. I guess overall, we aren’t huge fans of this unique SA varietal, but our friends that are local aren’t either, so we didn’t feel bad!

After we were done tasting, our wine steward gave us a short private tour of their winery, which was a really great way to start our time in the area and get some great pictures!

Top top vineyard
Nov 2019 • Couples
If you read Tim Atkin's reviews this is the producer of the best wine in South Africa, one of the best in the world. But their vineyard is unpretentious, far less commercialised than some others and is much the better for it. Friendly staff are extremely knowledgeable. A really pleasant and enjoyable experience.

You can buy wines and have them delivered in the UK at no extra charge.

Great range

Another vineyard with a consistently good range and an interesting history behind the estate.

The setting also nice with comfortable picnic tables outside in a nice courtyard area. Lovely friendly service and informative, very relaxing.

My husband and I arrived at kanonkop for a wine tasting. What a lovely experience it Wass. We felt welcome from the get go and things just got better and better. First of all, the quality of wine was exceptional. If red wine is your thing, kanonkop is your Jerusalem. Amazing wines, enhanced by a wonderful wine ambassador elestiene Williams who made us feel welcome and gave us stunning recommendations for the rest of our wine trip. Kanonkop is
a must visit!

Fantastic wine - Especially pinotage
May 2019 • Couples
This wine estate has a lot to be proud about with all the accolades they have won. The pinotage at this estate is well worth the visit with or without the accolades.

My only negative is nobody answers the phone so booking in advance or phoning regarding any queries involving a booking can be tricky.

However the winery is splendid, the wines are beautiful and the staff friendly so by and large a well earned 4/5.
