Take one of the many little roads/tracks down to the river beaches in this area. You will be amazed by the scenery - absolutely breathtaking. And so quite and peaceful at this time of year (May) - the only noise being the sound of birds and nature.

It's pretty and you can walk alone next to it. Just like any other river. But you can expect the cafes along the sides are overpriced.

The views of the river that flows right through the center of Tomar are quite beautiful from all its bridges.

This river is crossed to get into the main city, which is on the Castle side, but there is plenty to see on the other side of the river. Some perspectives as you cross the bridges show the many ways in which the town used the water for access. There is a most interesting (and apparently quite ancient) water wheel apparently originally constructed during the Moorish Conquest which is both functionally clever and aesthetically appealing.

Coming from the train station, your first see the monastery on the left on the hill. It was to late for us to visit. Walking through the town center with lots of small shops ,you turn right and you come to the river with the park. There is an old water mill wheel, still working! Nice walk along the river. There are some bars and café places close by!

The town of Tomar has a river in the city and that adds to it's great charm. There is a relaxing atmosphere with all the green florae and the running water. I loved the old mill that stands in the river.

This river that cross Tomar is not the Zezere, but it's the Nabão. Nevertheless in this park with lot of shadows you'll have a riverfront that will make o relax after exploring the city.Enjoy!
