One of the main attractions of the city

Only saw it from the outside, but it's clear that the city revolves around the church. Worth checking out if you're around.

...with winding medieval narrow streets on either side, this is a very lovely church. The tower has a 16th century clock, complete with pigeons flying around when the bells ring. The altar is white and gold Baroque and be sure to walk around to see the side chapels. There is no entry fee.

Spent an hour in here, beautiful sacred space - a place to meditate. The architecture is beautiful with amazing symbols.

The square in which this church is situated is surrounded by bars and restaurants. It makes a perfect backdrop.

Igreja de Sao Joao Baptista is set within Tomar's picturesque central square opposite the impressive 17th century town hall. Its octagonal bell tower and beautiful Manueline architectural style make for wonderful photo opportunities. The intricately carved stone entranceway and velvet curtain acting as an outer 'door' is quite befitting of this Templar town.

This is a lovely church, much prettier on the inside than the outside might suggest. It's set in a gorgeous town square complete with a small bird bath for the local pigeons.

This is a lovely Church if you want to spend a little time in peaceful surroundings. The alter is quite something and must be seen. Not worth visiting Tomar if you ignore this building.
