Highly recommended. The recent restoration work makes the visit a fascinating experience. The convent of Christ was the center for the Order of Christ (Templars). The facility shows great examples of Manueline Style Architecture. Easy access in the center of Tomar.

That anyone would skip Tomar on a trip to Portugal is beyond me. The convent is just amazing (and huge! you will spend the better part of the day)

If you are in tomar you should not miss this a definite must see full of history. Have a walk around the gardens before entering. Downside or negative point goes to the paid parking for visitors cars.

Has to be seen. Words would never suffice.! The centre of the Temple is a splendor to be seen. Go early before the tour buses arrive.

We spent a couple of hours exploring the Templar Knights castle in Tomar. It's a good example of several periods of preservation, starting in the 13th century. The round church and the ornamentation is very good. Intro into an interesting piece of history.

One of the historic places one has to visit when in Portugal. A templer stronghold it is an impressive castle build on the Old Muslim palace. Note... It can be very busy to get in.
