The castle is still closed and it does not seem that they are working either. Imposing from the outside! We caught a dolmus on the road outside back to Anemur otogar.

This castle is preserved well and worth a visit. Also the place Anamur is a nice city to visit, especially the sea side resort from Anamur, called iskele. A few tourists from abroad, but more native Turks are visiting this area.

The castle looks good from outsude on arrival. However when we visited we were unable to go around it as it is under renovasion.I'm sure when it is all complete the castle will be well worth a visit if you are in the area.

The castle was closed for reconstruction when we travelled on 28 february 2015. For the parking of bigger car, like our camper, 7 meters McLouis, man ran out of his cafe from the opposite side of the road, showing us this little space in front of the castle. Happy, they are working on this project, thou not many tourists travelling... More

we crossed the river using the wobbly suspension bridge and then walked to the castle. The beach leading up to the castle is marred by the amount of manmade rubbish strewn about. A great many turtle nesting sites were marked ( I feel sorry for the poor creatures having to crawl to the sea over so much detritus ) .... More

You can walk fully around the castle, but you can't walk in since it is being renovated and restored. The moat that partly surrounds the castle is full of turtles. Still, it is worth 30 minutes of your time.

Incredibly thick walls. Excellent trip with the children. Also called locally the marble castle, it was built on a byzantine fort, then occupied by the crusaders, then rebuilt by Alaeddin Keykubad, then used by the Karamanoglu dynasty and then served as an Ottoman garrison!!!

It is the most well preserved castle I have ever seen. Located on the seashore. Was once the popular spot for old-time Turkish action movies.
