A real gem. Gorgeous ornate rooms with marble walls and wood tile floors. Tours in English (which is rare in B.A.) at 3:30 pm Wednesdat and Thursday. Retire area

Nice quick 1 hour tour of this French style palace. Beware that the tours are not all the time, and you need a minimum of 4 people.

Well worth a visit. Amazing craftsmanship and splendour of a once private home from a wealthier Argentina. English tours only on some days so organise in advance. We didn't and got a Spanish tour guide who was very nice and did her best for us.

As many attractions in Buenos Aires, this one also seems to never be open. /we went there twice after we were told to come back on Thursday at 3:30 for the tour in English, but when we got there we were told "no Tour...tomorrow". The sign out front specifically mentions the Thursday Tour but not so. Open hours in Buenos... More

From what I was shown on the day I was there I think that the space is more beautiful than the one they show to people in Palacio San Martin (although, admittedly, the San Martin tour is free). From what I hear the tours unfortunately vary in quality. You might want to get into a function that takes place there,... More

We went on Thursday at 3:30 for the English speaking tour and after the man at the door sent for someone to come to us, we were told "something" in Spanish. We told them we don't speak Spanish and she kept talking in Spanish. It was very frustrating that nobody spoke English. We found another person from the US after... More

If you visit the Palacio Paz you will see the most beautiful building of Buenos Aires from inside! I was breathless when i entered the main hall. The guide was good with a good knowledge Unfortunatly its expensive and only one tour in english per week.

If you want to visit the inside of a stately home in BA, then this is it. It is the largest, and the best of all of them in BA. Everything inside was bought in Europe, sculpted in Europe and then transported to BA where it was assembled like a giant lego building. In the entrance way there are 7... More

We visited the Palacio Paz not knowing what the tour schedule was - we arrived just as a Spanish tour was departing. I translated for my fiancé, and we ended up having a marvelous time. Our guide really made each individual room come to life, explaining the very eclectic style throughout. Truly an incredible place that served a social function... More

Staying in Retiro

Neighbourhood Profile
Retiro
Exquisite palaces and luxurious apartment buildings combine with art galleries and exclusive boutiques to make Retiro the perfect spot for those who enjoy sophistication. However, the non-stop foot traffic to and from Retiro train and bus terminals, accompanied by the myriad of trucks leaving and arriving at the port, mean this neighbourhood is never truly at rest. One minute you are walking down a street dotted with ornate mansions and luxurious shop windows and the next you find yourself surrounded by a sea of people racing to catch their train or bus. It is this juxtaposition of never-ending comings and goings and quiet, elegant luxury that defines Retiro, as well as Buenos Aires, a city where sharp contrasts are all around.
