Marks the centre of the city

In the middle of the city sits this needle like monument. Can be seen from afar and is a focal point of the city centre Stands out along the main avenue

Definitely worth a visit to feel like you are in the heart of this gorgeous city. Easily accessible, but be careful of the cars, buses and other traffic. Plenty of fantastic photo opportunities with the city skyline as the background. The obelisk itself is just a simple design, but it certainly still stands out as a great landmark. Well lit... More

Surrounded by beeping horns and loads of traffic it's hardly a peaceful area but sitting on the wall looking up at the monument is a great opportunity for watching the world go by. As far as monuments go it's pretty plain and basic, but the lights at night ensure it's just as visible as it is during the day. The... More

I like this for itself as a dramatic focal point - also for the fact that it makes it easy to see where you are when walking around the city.

Dominates downtown on one of the largest avenues. Not too far walking from the Plaza de Mayo, this is like its counterpart in DC one of the most photographed sites

Very nice place to hang out, especially in the sun on a hangover! People sipping, walking, eating, shopping, skateboarding. Lovely!

A short stop at the obelisk, take a photo and then go quickly. Nothing special. Many tourists and a green hedge with BA letters.

No visit to Buenos Aires is complete without a stroll by the Obelisco. This is the hear of the city. From here you can walk the awesome avenues 9 de Julio and Corrientes. Be careful though, because there are pickpockets waiting for distracted tourists. Be alert, but don't miss the sight.
