There is no better way to enjoy the cool water, escape the summer heat, and marvel at the beautiful wilderness that is the Tonto National Forest than to go kayaking on the Lower Salt River! As you float down the Salt River below thousand-foot cliffs keep your eyes open for the native wildlife. You could see wild horses, deer, great blue herons, osprey, bald eagles, and more. These sit-on-top kayaks are very stable and easy to maneuver; after a fifteen-minute orientation, even beginners are ready to go! SLR’s tubing experience on the Lower Salt River provides a fun, refreshing, and scenic float that families and outdoors-lovers can enjoy; it is the perfect vantage point to take in the beauty of the Sonoran Desert. Our customers have the exclusive opportunity to float on the pristine first mile of the Lower Salt River. This is where the water is released from Stewart Mountain Dam’s turbine, where it is cool and clean; it’s the most serene and unspoiled part of the Lower Salt.

Came with friends. Have done this trip (the long one down to Granite Reef) several time. Each time, it's great and each time it has different views with the river scenes, birds and wildlife.
