Having stayed in Banos for almost 5 weeks, I was very fortunate to see the volcano from a number of viewpoints just outside of town. The view from Luna Run Tun was on a clear day (which a number of reviewers have mentioned is very rare.) A hike to the Antenas, is very worthwhile. I got up to the volcano... More

We did the hike up from Pondoa to the refugio in the National Park. The views of the volcano from this point (3,380m) were not great because of cloud cover mainly. The hike up and down though allows for great views, if the cloud clears. It took us about 2 hours 30 minutes to climb from the bottom refugio to... More

Just wonderful to look at. Latent power ...can just imagine what and eruption would be like. You are able to see old lava flows around this area.

We tried to see the Volcano but the weather was not good, i heard that the Volcano is quiet, so don't expect to see lava.

The weather in Banos is ever changing and volatile, we stayed in Banos for 3 weeks and finally saw the volcano on our last days. It was pretty cool.

We were trying to see the Volcano in Banos. Our last day in Banos, we ere so lucky with the weather. Imagine Ecuador recommend us to go to the best view point called Antenas, this afternoon the weather was excellent so we were able to see the Volcano smoking, not many people are luck but today yes. Try it ,... More
