What a place in time. The history is frozen in time and will be preserved for many to see it throughout the years. Love that place and it's glorious beginnings.

We went on a guided tour woth our 6 year old son. We loved the tour that was made with heart and soul. Our son was also intrigued and we bought some books for him after this visit. The mansion is gourgeous and it was so interesting learning more about this fascinating writer and his family.

It is furnished with some original pieces, with all being of the era, and our guide was very knowledgeable and friendly. The grounds are immaculate and a credit to the tourism... More

In addition to a hilly location with sweeping vistas, this house museum features guides (students intraining) in each room and a dance performance at the end. Information about R. L. Stevenson's life, writing, and family is given in rooms, some of which have tapa cloth as wallpaper. The dancing and kava drinking ceremony at the end is geared to tourists... More

My Dad used to read Treasure Island to me and I loved the book - and the time with dad. It was great to learn more about the man behind the book. What a lot he packed in to 44 years! The guide was helpful and knowledgeable and it was a great place to go.
