Hiking Echo Canyon trail to the top of Camelback Mountain was a great time. I did this alone, but there were a lot of people around so I wasn't worried about something happening to me. You definitely want to wear hiking shoes because you will be going up steep rocks. Also bring water. I went there on a Friday in... More

Where do I begin with this hike. Well first off, this isnt my type of hiking. I dont really enjoy solid rock climbing for hours, and that is what this trail is. I'm personally a big hiker and I brought my husband (non-hiker) and I thought he was never going to talk to me again. He was happy he accomplished... More

I went through many emotions as I climbed Echo Mountain which is a part of the Canyon Trail. The mountain part of the trail has something for everyone from the walker to the adventurous climber. If you are looking for a relaxing walk, you will want to stop about a half mile up. As you progress up the mountain it... More

This is a very steep hike with absolutely stunning views from the top. I have lived in Phoenix over a year and I am glad I finally made it up Camelback! The issue I had with the hike was there are just far too many people on the trail with you. You spend most of your time trying to stay... More

While in Scottsdale Camelback Mountain is right there for you. Now the only thing to do here is hike. Nothing else so unless you are prepared to walk, or hike don't go here. We thought we were ready but the park ranger asked us questions and we knew we were not ready to hike, well at least to the summit.... More

This is a must if you enjoy hiking and are visiting the area. I like to take the approach from the west, Echo Canyon, but the car park there at peak times is usually full, even early in the morning and always at the weekend. Be very careful about parking on the streets as they are very strict about this... More

This relatively short hike was by far one of the most strenuous, but fun hikes I've ever done! I hiked up Echo Canyon Trail, and descended Cholla Trail. I wouldn't recommend poles, as quite a bit of it you are using your hands to climb up or down. Great workout with great views!

If you love the outdoors, this is the place for you. I enjoy the warmth or heat of the sun so I was in heaven. If you're not a warm weather or hot weather person, find something else to do. A good place to go to hike, walk or ride your bike

Great hike, was fairly challenging for 50 year old that runs 3-6 miles daily but was not difficult. Arrived on a Friday am about 730 and had no problem with parking. We left at 930 and people were circling for spots.

My husband & I just went hiking here last weekend. Parking is much more ample than at some other parks, but I still suggest getting there early. Bathrooms and water fountains are available near the parking lots and were not excellent, but clean enough. Trails are well marked with signs explaining difficulty. The trail to the top was excellent. You'll... More
