Walking the Arizona Canal is one of the best ways to see and discover Phoenix and Scottsdale. The whole system is many miles, but it's a fun, easy walk to start at the Biltmore and go to Scottsdale (about 5-6 miles one way). The canal banks are flat and elevated, so you get some great views, seeing commercial, residential, educational,... More

Utilized in the late 19th century to move water around the valley...created from the old canals of the Hohokam (native Americans who lived in the area). I use to bike to work or just go on a stroll. A great asset.

You get excited about water in the desert, even if it is an irrigation canal designed by the Army Core of Engineers many many years ago. The City of Scottsdale has done an outstanding job of developing this area. There are outstanding art exhibits, some are literally in the canal. Great restaurants, housing, and shopping line the banks. This is... More

Easy walking or biking path however needs more benches for elderly. Great way to get to old town. Recommended for all ages.

Rode through the area and was surprised to find such a great little gem in the middle of town. Lots of things going on in the area yet still a peaceful place to visit and get away.

Developers spent a ton of money trying to create a "water feature" in the desert. They did an excellent job building a quality venue, but it's still a boring canal. Not worth the time we took to see it, really made for locals living in close proximity.

Nice area to walk, drink coffee, take pictures, or visit a restaurant. I remember the times when it was durty and ugly, and I definitely like the difference.

I am so glad we found this charming area. Lots of cute shops and restaurants. The canal is very pretty and the bridge going over it is very unique. We ate at Olive and Ivy and loved their happy hour. The patio is right at the canal. It was just remodeled and opened 1 1/2 months ago. Food is good... More
