We planned poorly on this one and parked in the Baldwin Trail Parking lot and hiked to Cathedral Rock. Not recommended if you are short on time as there is parking closer to the Cathedral Rock (we saw others come from it). The good thing...More

I always go up Indian School Road to the Baldwin Trail head. This way, you wind through the desert, along Oak Creek, then finally climb up the back and wind around to the front of Cathedral Rock! Easy hike getting to the front, more difficult...More

Great hike. Did the Templeton one first, had creeks etc and was fun for the kids. Then my 12 year old and I did Cathedral. Very, very steep and scary...but completely worth it. So beautiful!

Although the length of the hike is only 1.5 miles round trip it is basically a climb up and then down the Cathedral Rock. It is challenging in spots but gives you a great sense of accomplishment when you have finished. When you reach the...More

Very calm, peaceful hike, tricky in some spots but very much worth the effort. Geologically, Cathedral Rock is carved from the Permian Schnebly Hill formation, a redbed sandstone formed from coastal sand dunes near the shoreline of the ancient Pedregosa Sea. Known for its spiritual...More

I went for a hike around Cathedral Rock at the same time as Bell Rock. It was very peaceful after the chaos of the Grand Canyon. I cannot recommend it enough - the Sedona landscape it beautiful.

We actually went to Red Rock Crossing. We got to hike and swim! It really is a beautiful place and wasn't very crowded on a Monday. It is very slippery so wear appropriate water shoes!

One of the top destinations in Sedona. We went in the Winter so there were few crowds and tour buses. In addition, it was not hot, so you could easily hike in perfect weather. If you can, you at sunset when you can get a...More

Sedona and the surrounding areas are wonderful for beautiful red rock formations, amazing sunsets, and the calmness of the vortex. There is no fee to drive through the area . There is ample free parking.

Go to the airport in Sedona. It’s at the top of a hill and people go there to watch the sunset.

Rather than start at the Cathedral Rock Trailhead which requires a steep climb to reach cathedral rock, we drove to Oak Creek then took the Verde Valley School Road to the trailhead next to the Baldwin Trail. From there the... More
