This is one of the most beautiful areas on earth, just because the rocks have iron in the soil. There are places to stop for pictures, although visitors should have a Red Rock Pass at official areas. The señor pass for National Parks is also accepted. Just leave it on your dashboard if you hike very far. Best to visit... More

A friend recommend a visit to Sedona and said drive would be nice. It was wonderful! The road was very curvy at times, but so much to see! We pulled over many times to take in the views. Would like to return again and spend more time looking at the beautiful Red Rocks.

My wife and I spent one full day driving from Flagstaff AZ South to Sedona and environs and returning back to Flagstaff in the late evening. After seeing Sedona we continued to drive further South to Cottonwood on Arizona HWY 89A. We then drove East on HWY 260 from Cottonwood to Interstate 17 and North to HWY 179 returning to... More

The section through Oak Creek Village is especially spectacular with rocks rising up right near the highway, Only downside is a spate of roundabouts. But, you get used to them. Great introduction to Sedona.

The Ride into Sedona from the South..we arrived at twilight and drove back the next day to get the daytime view. Easy to see why people come to see the Red Rocks

This road was greatly improved a few years ago, from a 2-lane road with rocks and potholes to a modern divided road with pull-out areas for viewing and multiple roundabouts through the Village of Oak Creek and Sedona to keep the traffic moving along. Beautiful close-up vistas of the Red Rock formations and a pleasant nature drive. You will enjoy... More

Either on the way to Sedona, or on the way back to Phoenix, take this road, at least once. It is one of the most scenic roads I have been down. In fact, the only road I can think that tops this, is the road up the west coast of Scotland (but I am biased!). This should not be missed.... More

Going down Red Rock Scenic Byway offers great views of Sedona and Village of Oak Creek without the hassle of hiking and climbing! We did not experience much traffic for the few times we drove by in 2 days.
