We attended friends' winter wedding here. It had everything you need, and with an indoor option if it had been a cold day it really seemed to work very well for them. The converted dining hall was amazing, really cool.

Lovingly cared for. Worth consulting web-site for times of opening and what they offer Experience what it must have been like living like Lords in the 19thCentury before the WWs. Servants, gardeners, your own pony and trap. A string of horses. Parties.

A family celebration of high tea in the converted church in the gardens at Orua Wharo was delightful experience. Delicious sweet and savoury treats on those superb 3 tiered silver serving 'platters' accompanied by your own personal choice of a pot of tea from the many different tea varieties on the menu. Champagne on arrival and discreet impeccable service. Plus... More

We visited Oruawharo on Good Friday and were welcomed by Peter and Dianne who generously shared their love of this wonderful old homestead with us. We were shown round the house & given relevant snippets of history of the house and the local area. They have lovingly restored much of the house but of course there is more to do... More

Great experience and fantastic story. Highly recommended. Interesting insight into the life of the early weathy settlers and the modern story of the house's rescue. Would make a fantastic wedding venue.

Went to Oruawharo Homestead yesterday for lunch. What a special occasion it was, lovely lunch of sandwiches, savouries, scones with preserves and cream, muffins and brownie served with tea or coffee of your choice. We all had different teas and they were served in individual teapots. Most of the food is made on premises and was delicious, served on lovely... More

37 of us visited on a day pouring rain & lashing wind. Met at the grand front door, ushered inside & to The Ballroom, comfy seats & roaring fire. Glorious! Owner talked of the house's history accompanied by picture slides then we had a tour of the house then across to the Chapel now restored to a modern Dining Area... More

Can't count how many times we've been here. Last time we took two cousins for high tea and they were thrilled to be go over the house and be told its history by Peter - and we couldn't eat all of our high tea, there was so much of it. Lovely food.
