Nice snorkeling agree with reviews. Note that all the boats do the same thing at the same time regardless of your provider, and it does get busy at times. Lunch was totally unimaginative (cheap!!) with store bought sliced white bread, packaged cheese, ham and some...More

Cano Island is a biological reserve and a good place to snorkel. You can not stay on the island but there is an opportunity to be on the island near the rangers station.

The boat ride out is just short of an hour...and we swam in big schools of fish, including 40 (?) manta rays, turtles, colorful tropicals, shark. The island is now protected so we could only enjoy one beach. Our guide was very informative and fun to...More

We had a great snorkeling tour provided by La Paloma Lodge. Our tour guide, Alan, showd us not only fish but also turtles, sharks, sting ray, dolphins.

Enjoyed snorkeling and the variety of sealife. The beach is small, but lovely. Only complaint is lack of sanitary facilities. There were probably 100+ people in the small area, and that's a lot of people who need a place to "go" and the only place...More

First, you go to Cano Island to snorkel or scuba dive. Because Costa Rica is very protective of its natural beautiy, you will not be able to wonder to far from the beach. I was lucky in that I was there during the dry season,...More

Saw whale and calf on trip over. Then snorkelling was excellent: saw shark, large turtle and loads of colourful fish.

We were able to see Turtles and lots of fish. Good visibility. Lunch was included. We had a nice picnic under palm trees, when we came back. You have to wear a T-Shirt while diving because of the sun.

We went to dive but think we chose the wrong time of year. We knew that it wasn’t the diving season but had a couple of dives anyway. Vis was very poor and quite strong currents. Plenty of marine life around though so may go...More

We went in the wet/green season (August) and never had the rain stop us from doing anything we wanted. It always rained late in the day. The best strategy is to get up early when it is cooler. (The early sunrise and... More

My understanding is that the whale sharks and humpbacks will be gone by January. You will see rays and small white tip sharks.
