Our team will welcome you with the best help you need and deserve to learn and improve your Spanish! Our school is located in a quiet neighbourhood and is only a 5 minute walk to the heart of San Pedro La Laguna. Our classroom has an impressive view of Lake Atitlan. Live with a local family, get to know our culture and learn about our Mayan traditions. There’s also the possibility to volunteer at one of our projects!

I can really really recommend Semilla Spanish School! I had a great time at the school, my teacher Juan Carlos made sure I learnt a lot of new things every day and he was very highly educated. In the break we got a different delicious snack every day, so we also learned more about Guatemalan food. The lessons were very diverse, a good mix of games, exercises, interaction, explaining grammar etc. And the view was the best I ever had when looking outside a school’window’! We also had some fun activities at Wednesdays. I enjoyed the time so much, I might return in the future to continue my Spanish classes. Muchas gracias Juan Carlos y Semilla Spanish School!

Semilla spanish school is excellent. It is a lovely place to learn Spanish and the view was amazing. I spent 1,5 weeks studying here. Sara was a great teacher and very patient. They were also really flexible when I decided to extend three more days.
The home stay was brilliant. Clean private room, amazing food and my host family were so welcoming. My host family experience couldn’t have been better.
The included activities were also great. I did the honey tour and indian nose hike. I am very happy I choose this school and I highly recommend Semilla Spanish School!

I have joined the Semilla school with no knowledge of Spanish. My teacher Sara was very patient and really thought me lot in a week. I am happy to leave the school with the ability of having basic conversations and high level of price negotiation now 😜
Besides always had great snacks during the breaks (chuchitos, banana choco and other ...).
I highly recommend the school and if I would have the opportunity I'd go again 😀

Wow! Such a amazing time at Semilla School! Juan Carlos very polite and helpful person! My teacher: Sara amazing maestra so much patience! In general I'm very happy to choose that specific school, even if there are so many in San Juan. Also they are providing very nice host families :) Would definitely recommend to everyone, who is not at the Lake at the moment and looking online for a matching school ;) Come and study here with beautiful views !

I was already at the end of my vacation and thought it would be nice to learn spanish onsite.
I booked 5 days / 5 hours and to be honest: I learned during this short time more as in comparison to a spanish class in germany for some months!
My teacher was Wilson. The way how he teached was great. He made different games which made the lessons varied.
After 5 days I extended for 3 more days and I could also change the host family.
Manuel, who was my teacher for 2 days was also great. I stayed in his family and they showed great hospitalty during my stay!
I had a great time and hopefully come back!

My partner and I heard nothing but good things of Semilla Spanish School from a friend and boy they did not disappoint! We were in contact with Juan on whats app and he responded quickly and was able to accommodate our travel plans and fit us in on short notice. When we arrived Juan greeted us and showed us to our host family. We stayed with Manuel (who is also a teacher at the school) and his beautiful family. We had a very clean room and our own private bathroom. All the meals were very delicious and big portions. We had the best time playing with the kids and getting to know them family over meal times. Juan was our teacher and we learned so much in just one short week! He customized our lesson to our exact needs, we opted for 5 hours of lessons per day which was very challenging. Juan was very helpful and broke up the lessons with games and other learning tools to help us. Plus lots of coffee and delicious snacks at break time. I would recommend Semilla to anyone looking to have an unforgettable experience not only to improve their Spanish but to really get to know the locals and their culture. Thank you to everyone at Semilla.

I truly loved my two weeks of Spanish School with Semilla. With my classroom overlooking the lake I was in paradise every day. My teacher was very professional yet still had a lot of fun during my learning process. The style of teaching was effective and suited me very well. A mix of assessment tools, technology and conversation was really effective. All the teachers are welcoming and with every encounter want to boost your confidence. I also stayed in a home stay for 1 week which benefited me greatly in being more immersed in the language. The family I stayed with were very kind and cooked gorgeous local dishes which were so tasty. I would recommend anyone to Semilla Spanish School.

Semilla Spanish School was the best choice for my two weeks of learning Spanish at Lake Atitlan. The „classroom“ is a terrace with view of Lake Atitlan and surrounding mountains. I stayed at a lovely guatemalan family and the three meals per day where delicious and typical guatemalan dishes. All the teachers were lovely and the atmosphere in the school was really chill. I learned a lot thanks to my super-maestro Manuel. Would highly recommend this school. They were also really flexible about the class when I decided to take a spontaneous daytrip during the week and let me do the hours of that day split up on two other days.

I had the most most amazing experience at Semilla Spanish school. I cannot fault anything about this school. My teacher Otto is a truly gifted teacher. My spanish improved so much because of him. All the staff are extremely friendly and they go out of their way for you. I was greeted with lovely coffee every morning and a different snack daily. The views of Lake Atitlan from the school is also beautiful.
This is a new school which I am sure is only going to grow due to the professional nature of all the staff.
I will certainly recommend this school to anyone I meet. 10 out if 10

I can't speak highly enough about my experience at Semilla. Anyone looking for Spanish Schools in the San Pedro knows, or will find that there is no shortage of options, and like many - I was ready to just pick the top option in the search results. I chose Semilla for the availability and schedules they offered, and how responsive and supportive via WhatsApp they were, contrasted to a number of other schools I was also speaking with.
Simply put, I was blown away by the quality of instruction and care . From my experience during class, to the administrators and invitations to extra curricular events, to my homestay family - I truly felt that every person was invested in supporting my language learning, and ensuring I had a positive experience.
Thank you to especially to Otto, Juan Carlos, Brian, Manuel, Lisette - I'll be back soon!
