Say yes to a guide for first 20 min

We paid the 100 quetzel entry fee at gate- No problem. You then may have a 'guide' that you meet on a tuk tuk that will offer to take you up for the first 20 min or so - you don't... read more

We paid the 100 quetzel entry fee at gate- No problem. You then may have a 'guide' that you meet on a tuk tuk that will offer to take you up for the first 20 min or so - you don't have to pay him - the park does this. And you really only do need them for first 20.... More

a place to relax, enjoy with friends or by your self, you can swing, do kayaking, the people is very friendly and the weather is very nice even if you go on winter or summer, also you can pay a boat and get a trip for all the towns on the lake

You need to get up and at it early for this workout to be worthwhile. Begin the hike at 6am and you should have an amazing view at the top. It takes anywhere from 2.5 - 4 hours to reach the top (dependant on rest times/ fitness level). There are a couple rope swings along the way. You only need... More

This is a pretty serious climb. I actually got attitude sickness in the last 45 minutes, but still pushed on to the summit. It took us around 3-4 hours to reach the summit from the entrance. You have to pay to enter. The entrance fee should include a guide. Bring exact change. It's cheap. Our guide spoke very clear and... More

A mere 10-minute Tuk-Tuk drive away from San Pedro 'downtown', this amazing volcano is a wonderful, if challenging, climb rewarding with breathtaking views of Lago Atitlan. The 4-hour walk starts in coffee plantations but soon moves onto lush forest. A belvedere and a few 'swings' give opportunities for rest along the way. While the hike is steep, most of the... More

We were just 2 with our guide Salvador organized by our excellent language school (Community). Salvador set a strong pace which had us up in just over 2 hours and we were rewarded with an amazing view on a very clear blue-sky day. We were surprised not to meet many others on the volcano being just before Christmas but it... More

I ascended this volcano one time before, that first time I wasn't planning camping, so ascended with water, little food and clothes. Second (this) time, camping was planned. Started at 14:00, it took us 3:30 hours to get to the refuge, and decide to camp there. I think it might be 4:20 hours to the summit, but terrain there is... More

I went with a group from the Spanish school on a Saturday. It took us 7 hours to up and down. We had a couple of people who were a little slow on the climb up, so we could have probably done it in 6 hours. It's a steep climb with many built in stairs. The views were wonderful on... More

Hiking San Pedro Volcano is not for everyone. This is a 3 to 4 hour climb up the side of a Volcano on a dirt trail. That said if you have the stamina the climb is worth it for the view. We used a local Guide which makes all the difference in the experience you will have. This hike will... More

The volcanos are around the Atitlán Lake. Very beautiful and impressive. There is many villages around the lakes that are very nice.
