Worth a visit

I was here as part of a coach party the fortress itself is well preserved and very interesting the views of Sudak are well worth taking a few photo's the fortress has a few stalls selling things there is also a guided tour in Russian so people who don't speak Russian will struggle with but other than that the fortress is still worth a visit

Good place, nice views, next to the sea with a beach, reminds me of Game of thrones. Russian language skills needed though.

Great place to visit if you are in Crimea. Much easier if you have a car.
You must speak Russian as there are no guides that speak English,

A good place for a walk to feel the history in the air
Jul 2014 • Couples
The fortress was huge, the history of this place feels in the air. Of course, as time passed, it is somewhat ruined. But you can still see the majesty of the place and have a good walking and climbing time with friends or family.

good stretch and view

The fortress is more ruins than real fortress... But it makes for a good walk, there is even a small museum displaying some remnants from the Genoese period. Do not expect grand things, but the views over the bay are nice.
You can also venture to Novy Sviet, a small village 7kms away (easy minibus ride), where there is a nice walk along two capes that make for great views on the sea.

Breathtaking!

A spectacular place, especially at the time of historical performances and reconstructions. One of the best medieval-style festivals - "The Genoese Helmet" - featuring theatralized battles, swordfighting tournament, buhurt, archers' competition, costume parade, medieval workshops, shooting from the bow, demonstration of old weapons, etc is held annually in August (usually culminating on August 24th, the Ukrainian Independence Day).
The old castle walls are in good condition, the fortress should most definitely be on the UNESCO's list of world heritage.
To crown it all, the view opening from the fortress territory is absolutely amazing - gorgeous Crimean mountains, endless sea, and the town of Sudak sandwiched in between.

A hidden gem, destined to become a World Heritage Site
May 2013 • Friends
This site is several hours by car from the main 'Russian Riveria' part of Crimea between Yalta and Sevastopol, but it is WELL worth the trek. The fortress is breathtaking and should be a UNESCO world heritage site. My understanding is that UNESCO is considering it, but in the meantime you can explore the site with much more freedom than any other historical site I've been to. Also, the coastal drive from Yalta to Sudak is stunning -- reminiscent of Tuscany or Napa Valley.

You can dress up in costumes and take fun pictures. I have been there 3 times and plan to go every time I'm in Krim. Be sure to stop by Koktebel, if that's not why you are going there in the first place. :)
