Driving from Little Rock to Memphis, we saw a sign for this park and figured, "What the heck? We've got the time." We drove (and drove) following the signs and, about the time we were ready to give up, saw the sign for the final 2 miles. You drive to the end of the road through a seasonal headwater swamp... Try to do a day trip every view month. Nice to say I have been there. A little disappointed with the lack of support for the place. It has a nice sign, a long peaceful walking bridge you the monument and informational Plaques along the way. I was just expecting more.

It was nice and if historical significance. Was there for an hour and nobody else was there. Otis a hidden spot in the middle of nowhere but worthwhile to see the best real estate deal ever made was.

The Louisiana Purchase State Park is kind of difficult to classify. My wife and I visited in the summer and there were a lot of bugs there. The land is very different than the area around it. It is swampland in contrast to the flatter farmland areas around it. Since we are history buffs we enjoyed it. I could also... More

I came here during the 200 year celebration of the survey marker. The history of the monument is fascinating to those with an interest in the development of western civilization pre Civil War. As for going to the marker there is a nice raised walkway over area that is normally a swamp. The guides at the end of the trail... More

This was a great place to visit especially in the fall when the leaves are changing. I never realized this piece of history was located in Arkansas. Bring insect repellent for there are a lot of bugs.

I visited this last year. Just a walk in the woods was worth it. Very calm woods and relaxing walk. Free entry. Kinda looked like the woods in the movie "The Village", but it was cool.

Even though it's a historical site, it is nothing more than a walk down a wooden walkway to a historical marker in the middle of a swamp. We enjoy the walk, but there is nothing else there.
