The museum tells the story of a very dark day during the second world war. It shows how the events occurred in a reasonably sympathetic and unbiassed manner. It was a dreadful time in European history. Hopefully, museums like this will help us to avoid...More

The museum is a must-see place in Kalavrta and a visit is a perfect complement to a visit to the memorial to the shooting, which is just out of town. The story of the town and the terrible events of 13/12/43 at well-told and illustrated...More

Should you take the train you can also gain entry to this museum. Ask when you buy your ticket. The museum addresses the 1943 massacre of over 600 men and boys over age 13 by the Nazi. Explanations are in Greek and English. There is...More

This museum was excellent. It really takes you from understanding the town of Kalavryta, the people and it’s important role in the underground resistance. It charts well the events, the perpetrators and the victims. More moving is both the statue of a wife dragging her...More

Recommend all visitors to this city stop here to get a picture of the level of Nazi atrocities in rural Greece. If you are not a WW2 historian you will still learn a large amount about the massacre here.

Although most of the exhibits are not something special, the visit to the museum is unique. Videos play constantly giving to the guests testimonies of the events from survivors and witnesses. Recommend it.

Don’t be misled by the use of the epithet “holocaust” - this has nothing to do with the Jewish victims of fascism. Nevertheless, what happened at Kalavryta was yet another evil consequence of the Nazi regime in Germany. Kalavryta was the location for a notorious...More

Beautiful small 'Museum' but this isn't history. Brings the war so close especially if you have stayed with local families as they lost their grandfathers, uncles , brothers. Difficult to comprehend now.
