Wasn't on our list of things to do, but we are both very glad we stopped by, If the lava fields are a luna landing, then this is definitely Mars. Not to be missed and will only take an hour at best

Simply beautiful place, with lots of sulfuric fumes and mud pools, colorful stones and mountains, very nice views over lava fields. Short and longer hikes, but even the short ones are worthwhile. crater lake nearby is also interesting, as is the power plant.

Stopped after a wonderful bath at the hot springs and enjoyed the stroll thru the fantastic lava formations. Didn't know there are some serious hikes can can take from here as well. Beautiful formations!

The Krafla Lava Fields are otherworldly and fascinating. Be sure to allow time to tour the Power Plant and learn all about the clean energy plan in Iceland. Great for all ages!
