Craters, volcanoes, and the Hverir thermal area. Very close to each other, can be visited in a single day. You may stop at the Krafla Geothermal Powerplant. It has a small but nicely set-up visitor center, with a short video on geothermal energy in Iceland and clean restroom facilities.

Very nice colours and there is a warm water river with a shower in this area. It is almost surreal t see this place.

We drove through and stopped a few places. It seems to go on forever and is something you just have to see. There are lots of interesting sites if you are willing to walk. Some are easy walks and some are hard, but all are worth it.

We stooped our car and walked on the lava fields just on the moss. The moss were so soft so you can cuddle and take a nap!

Strange landscape, looked like a different planet. We only drove through with a couple of stops but probably worth giving it more time and go walking if you can.

Well worth a visit. If you're prepared to walk or climb you'll get the full benefits of what is in the area. Beautiful and humbling at just how powerful nature can be.

Gorgeous. We could have stayed all day taking photos and walking the different paths. Loved the walk to the Church. Awesome fall foliage.

This was my absolute favorite attraction in all of Iceland and we did the entire country!! The feeling you get when you are here makes the earth feel alive. There is a power plant which makes it look like a scene out of 1984. Do not miss this while you are in Iceland. There is so much to see in... More

The Krafla Lava Fields is so vast that it seems never ending while driving on Road 1 in the middle of it.

No words to describe it or pictures that can show what you feel and what you see there. You feel like you are on another planet or on the moon. Definitely a breathtaking place that must be visited.
