A definite place to visit as a part of your Iceland Tour. The hot springs are cheaper and less crowded than the commercialized ones, and the place is lovely.

It was a cold windy/rainy day, but we still enjoyed our drive our the lake. Best part was when we hiked up with volcano Hverfell. It is a serious hike up, but the views were amazing. Just be careful if you get a windy day...More

Nice place and area to spend the day. Lots of stops possible to do some walking, visit dimmu borgir or grotagja (from GoT).

Great lake surrounded by volcanos and pseudo-volcanos, again an amazing and super different landscape proving the very differentiated nature Iceland has got to offer!

Visited in the snow, some parts frozen over. Great sunset views from all angles. Very photogenic any time of day

Northern Iceland is definitely worth exploring - so much to do here and the Lake itself is beautiful. Whale watching in Husavik (about 45 min drive away) is also a must!

Hi! On your trip to Lake Myvatn in the winter did you do a self-drive or a tour? We are thinking of going next March and do a self-drive. Do you have any tips for winter holiday there? Thanks in advance.
