Was on a coach tour of the Golden Circle and this was our first stop. It's so beautiful and I loved all the history of the Viking assembles and the geographic feature of rift. We had a really knowledgeable tour guide with us which helped...More

Its worth visiting here for the drive alone. Breathtaking. A new wow factor at every turn. It's free to go here but you do have to pay for parking and to use the toilet. There is an information centre and gift shop. Nice for walks...More

We spent at least a couple of hours at the national park and had a fantastic time walking around. It was amazing to see the tectonic plates. We also walked to Oxara and Silfra. I was initially concerned about crowds but it wasn't too bad....More

It was 20.30 in July when we have visited there. So here were very few peoples which gave us the opportunity to walk freely, to smell the authentic air, and feel the Vikings camping around. An hour or more is needed to enjoy it truly.

Thingvellir is beautiful and there are many places to stop. It is, however, crowded and the Golden Circle road is (understandably) busy.

Pingvellir National Park is on the Golden Circle and less than 1 hr from Reykjavik. It was more touristy than I imagined. You can start at the visitor center and walk along the rift where the plates of North America and Europe meet. You can...More

Beautiful place, stunning and historic. Other reviews on here wax lyrical about its beauty, and how impressive the place is, and that's all true, so I'll simply say "ditto" to all the positive comments, and warn you about the toilets. If you visit the visitor...More

Þingvellir National Park, I believe, is among the top most visited attractions in Iceland. And deservedly so. It may not have the wow factor in terms of scale as Gullfoss or Detifoss, or the glaciers in Vatnajökull but it offers a unique experience walking through...More

The reviews are spot on for this place. It's historic, it's photogenic, it's simply amazing. Unfortunately everyone else thinks so too. My advise is really try to find a way to get here either very early or later, the tour buses have made this place...More

Great National Park to visit, particularly interesting to walk down through the rift in the land. The rift here is miles wide (basically the whole park) which is astonishing to comprehend. Nice walk.

We joined a guided tour. Our coach stopped at the parking lot, closed to the viewing platform. There should not be any problem reaching the platform. However, the pickup point was at the other end of the park entrance, and... More
