You basically walk up to the castle, read the information available and self-guide yourself through the area. Nice park, great family location.

Roscommon Castle is set within a lovely park. The castle itself is just walls and mostly a ruin but here is much to see here if you look closely. Walking around the inner walls you can see where the floor joists had originally been set...More

Went to Roscommon to look up some ancestry. Looking for other things to do there, we walked to this castle. Even though it is in ruins, we still enjoyed walking through it and there is a lovely park with a pond close by.

This 13th Century castle ruin is worth a destination route or even a detour. One of my favorite ruins -- just stunning to look at. Awe-inspiring, eerie, beautiful!

Great place to visit. Go to the Roscommon County Museum and ask staff about a tour of the castle. Two great points of discussion is the murder hole and the bird carving. Loved the history.
