Fredriksten Festning was built in 1661, and was used by Norwegian military untill 1905 at the liberation of Norway in the shooting between Norway and Sweden. You will reach to the top of the fortress in about 10 minutes walk from the centre of Halden.

Beautifully kept fortress, lovely nature and one hell of a view. Wear good walking shoes as you climb up the hill.Free entrance. Many coffee shops and restaurants in the village.
